There is something so pure and so true about the Arts here in Long Beach that it begs me to lose my way with words. There is a relationship between the average citizen and the arts that is so humbling...so beautiful, that I have never seen before in any city in the U.S., that it demands an honesty in communicating the details around that relationship. Without bravado or spin. That is hard for me, tutored to speak superlatives by a world full of itself and hopped up on the hype of its own mythos.
But the Arts of Long Beach, the way it all happens and moves and thrives and enjoys for the sake of enjoyment...stands in truth, on its own. Boemia Long Beach is the imprint of creative folks who cut their teeth on the edges of a world often unsure, unfit and unable that booms anyhow because of love; movement; beauty; the hunger for something real; and the art of all of it.
These things work together to create a little spot on the
Pacific Ocean that will take you at your best and make the most of you, or just take you for who you are. Whether she's loving winners that sometimes lose or making winners out of losers, the innovation of spirit is inside her ability to nurture and push us beyond anything anyone ever expected.
That spirit has a breath and a life that can only be found here in this city and Boemia will do her best to bring it to you however she can.
Long Beach is the city; Boemia is witness to every tangible and intangible joy she creates in the blood and body of her art and the artists she nurtures.
